Karachi police officers will now be bound to follow traffic laws, just like the public. On July 15, 2025, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho ordered that all police personnel, from senior officers to constables, must abide by traffic regulations.
This directive was issued as an attempt to improve road safety and enhance the police’s image. Odho instructed all zonal, CIA, and traffic DIGs to convey this message to their subordinates and emphasize the importance of setting an example.
Disciplinary action will be taken against the use of unauthorized or fake number plates, not wearing helmets, and other traffic violations. The Additional IG emphasized that there will be no concessions for officers who break the law.
Supervisors at all levels have been ordered to strictly monitor their teams and implement the new policy immediately. This step aims to reinforce the principle that law enforcement personnel must comply with the law to maintain public trust and ensure discipline.
