Advisor to the Government, Nisar Abbasi’s meeting with IG Azad Kashmir, discussion on women’s issues

Advisor for Services and General Administration/Chairperson Women’s Parliamentary Caucus/Member National Commission on the Status of Women Ms. Nisar Abbasi, in a meeting with Inspector General of Police Azad Kashmir Rana Abdul Jabbar and Senior Superintendent of Police Muzaffarabad Riaz Haider Bukhari, demanded strict action against harassers. In the meeting, important issues faced by women, including workplace harassment, domestic violence and online harassment, were discussed.

Ms. Abbasi stressed the need for prompt and transparent investigation of harassment complaints and emphasized the duty of law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability and provide justice to victims. She appreciated the recent police action in such cases and assured the full support of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.

A major awareness campaign is being planned to inform women about their rights, procedures for reporting violence and harassment, and available support services. Ms. Abbasi also recommended the appointment of women officers for hearing cases related to women to make the reporting environment more conducive.

Inspector General Rana Abdul Jabbar reiterated the police’s commitment to prioritizing women’s safety and concerns. A dedicated women’s reporting center is being established to streamline the reporting process. He promised prompt resolution of women’s issues and action against those responsible for harassment.
