Balochistan Braces for Extreme Heatwave With Chance of Isolated Thunderstorms

A scorching heatwave is set to grip most of Balochistan, with temperatures expected to soar in several districts during the next 24 hours.

Western regions, including Chagai, Nokkundi, Kharan, Washuk, and Panjgur, will experience particularly intense heat coupled with strong gusts of wind. However, a glimmer of respite comes in the form of potential light rain and isolated thunderstorms, predicted for hilly areas in Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Khuzdar, Labella (Kund Malir), and Hub districts over the next 24 hours.

The forecast for the subsequent 48 hours indicates continuing hot and humid conditions across much of the province, with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms persisting in parts of Barkhan, Kohlu, Ziarat, Harnai, Zhob, Loralai, Khuzdar (Wad), Labella (Kund Malir), and Hub districts. Western areas will remain very hot and dry, with windy conditions expected.

In the past 24 hours, the highest temperatures were recorded in Dalbandin and Nokkundi, both reaching 44.0°C. Sibbi followed closely at 43.0°C. Several other areas, including Panjgur, Usta Muhammad, Zhob, Uthal, Turbat, Khuzdar, and Labella, also experienced temperatures exceeding 37°C. Quetta city recorded a high of 38.0°C, while other parts of Quetta, including Samungli, Brewery, and Sariab, saw slightly lower temperatures. Coastal regions like Pasni, Jiwani, Gwadar, and Ormara experienced relatively milder conditions.
