An attempt to plant explosives at key installations in Kalat district of Balochistan was foiled by security forces on Tuesday. One terrorist was killed during the operation.
According to security sources, security forces conducted a timely operation in the Rahimabad area of Kalat and thwarted an alleged attempt to plant explosives at important installations. They added that police and the Frontier Corps (FC) launched a joint search operation after receiving information regarding the planting of an improvised explosive device (IED), during which an exchange of fire resulted in the death of one terrorist.
The deceased was identified as Mansoor Ahmed alias Masawir, son of Abdul Jabbar, who was allegedly a key member of the banned militant organisation BLA’s Zarab group. Security sources said that the individual was attempting to plant IEDs near key installations in the Rahimabad area of Kalat.
When police and FC personnel arrived at the scene, the terrorist attempted to flee towards nearby orchards; however, an exchange of fire took place during the pursuit, resulting in his death.
Security sources added that two explosive cans, a battery, 15 metres of wire, an STOS device, a pistol, a mobile phone, and two hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the deceased.
