MPA attack case: Three militants killed, two arrested in encounter

Police said on Tuesday that three armed suspects were killed and two others arrested during an exchange of fire in connection with a recent attack that left four people dead and a provincial lawmaker injured.

According to police officials, the suspects were involved in an earlier assault on the camp of Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ayub Gadhi a few weeks ago, in which four people present at the site were killed and the lawmaker sustained serious injuries.

The Crime Control Department (CCD) in Toba Tek Singh launched an intelligence-led raid within the jurisdiction of Rajana Police Station to apprehend the suspects. Police said the suspects opened indiscriminate fire upon sighting the raiding team.

Officials said security forces returned fire, resulting in the deaths of three main suspects on the spot, while two of their alleged accomplices were taken into custody.

Police recovered weapons from the scene, while CCD teams have been constituted to track down other members of the group believed to be involved in the attack, officials added.
