Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Police has intensified its efforts against drug dealers under the “Drug-Free Punjab” campaign. This year, under the guidance of Inspector General Abdul Karim, the force has successfully arrested 21,824 drug dealers, which is a major step in controlling the drug problem in the province.
It was officially reported today that as a result of this crackdown, 21,712 cases have been registered across Punjab, reflecting a strong legal action in response to the drug crisis. As a result of these operations, 11,626 kilograms of cannabis, 1,166 kilograms of heroin, 687 kilograms of ice, 536 kilograms of opium, and over 345,000 liters of illegal liquor have been seized.
In Lahore, the provincial capital, joint efforts have resulted in the arrest of 2,866 suspects and the registration of 2,775 cases, which is a significant advancement in the city’s fight against drugs. The police remain steadfast in their mission to protect the younger generation from the dangers of drugs, targeting drug dealers operating in educational environments, hostels, and digital platforms.
Inspector General Abdul Karim has reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to impartial and unbiased actions, aimed at dismantling networks that pose a threat to the well-being of future generations.
