Key Judicial Reshuffle Strengthens Superior Courts

Significant administrative reshuffles within Pakistan’s superior courts aim to bolster institutional effectiveness and streamline operations. The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Chairman has appointed Sohail Muhammad Leghari, a District and Sessions Judge (BPS-22), as the SJC Secretary on deputation. Leghari brings experience from his previous role as Registrar of the Sindh High Court, where he actively participated in judicial management and reforms.

Concurrently, Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, who also chairs the SJC, has appointed Fakhar Zaman, a District and Sessions Judge (BPS-21) from the Peshawar High Court, as the Supreme Court’s Additional Registrar (Administration), also on deputation. Zaman previously served as Senior Director at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad, acquiring extensive expertise in judicial management and education.

These officers are anticipated to enhance the SJC Secretariat’s functions and oversee the Supreme Court’s administrative matters, promoting transparency, efficiency, and improved service delivery.

Authorities state that these selections demonstrate the judiciary’s commitment to fortifying institutions, building public confidence, and effectively fulfilling its constitutional duties.
