Diplomatic Relations – PM terms his meeting with US President as highly constructive

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today revealed that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a landmark defense agreement stipulating that an act of aggression against one nation will be considered an attack on both, a development with significant regional implications.

Speaking to UK-based Pakistani journalists in London, the Prime Minister detailed that any such aggression would be met with a joint response determined through mutual consultation.

Sharif emphasized that the new accord is not directed against any other country but is the formalization of a “longstanding desire shared by both nations.” He characterized the deep-rooted relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as one built on decades of sincerity and trust, which has now been solidified through this enduring partnership.

The Prime Minister also described his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington D.C. as “highly constructive and productive.” He conveyed that the American leader assured him of advancing bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries. Sharif was also appreciative of President Trump”s influential role in facilitating the Pakistan-India ceasefire.

In a strong message directed at New Delhi, the Prime Minister referenced “Marka-e-Haq,” stating that Pakistan taught India a lesson that it will remember for life. On the domestic front, Sharif affirmed that Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability and that tireless efforts are underway to steer the nation onto an upward growth trajectory. While acknowledging the havoc wreaked by recent floods, he expressed a firm resolve to overcome the situation and propel the country forward.

The government is pursuing a focused strategy aimed at poverty alleviation, reducing unemployment, and attracting investment, the Prime Minister noted. He highlighted the objective of fully harnessing the country’s potential in key sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and mines and minerals, adding that friendly countries are prepared to offer their full support in this endeavor.

Highlighting internal unity, Sharif alluded to greater coordination between the nation”s political and military leadership, stating they are “on the same page.” He mentioned that he holds regular consultations with Field Marshal Asim Munir on all matters of national interest, including foreign policy.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed an unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country. He praised the nation”s security forces for combating terrorists and declared that their sacrifices in the war on terrorism will always be remembered.

Concluding his remarks on foreign affairs, Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that he had also raised the voice of the Kashmiri and Palestinian people during his address at the United Nations.
