A delegation from the minority community met with Dr. Shyam Sundar Advani, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Minority Affairs, on Wednesday to discuss the rights of the minority community in Sindh. The delegation, which also included human rights activists and was led by City Councilor Javed Yousuf, aimed to address several key issues faced by minority communities to improve their representation and opportunities.
The delegation strongly advocated for the full implementation of the five percent educational quota, emphasizing the need for its immediate enforcement. They also highlighted the importance of including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s historic speech of August 14 in the educational curriculum, a step towards inclusive education. Emphasis was placed on ensuring equal educational and employment opportunities for minority youth to provide them with better prospects.
Dr. Shyam Sundar Advani assured the delegation that the Sindh government would take immediate action to resolve these issues.
The delegation included prominent human rights activists, such as William Sadiq, Advocate Shahid Saeed Bhatti, Ms. Shumaila Iqbal, and Ms. Iram Javed. They demanded immediate educational reforms and the implementation of equal rights for the minority community, appealing to the Sindh government for prompt and decisive action.
