Top Officials Vow to Resolve Industrial Sector Challenges and Chinese Investor Issues

In a high-level meeting aimed at tackling critical challenges within Pakistan’s industrial sector, the government has pledged to resolve pressing issues faced by Chinese investors and local businesses to accelerate economic growth.

The commitment was made today during a discussion between the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, and a delegation including Pakistan”s Ambassador to China and the newly elected Presidents of the Lahore and Gujranwala Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Khan affirmed that, under the direction of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the administration is dedicated to reviving industrial momentum and improving the ease of doing business. He emphasized that a new Industrial Policy has been formulated to facilitate industries and ensure the long-term sustainability of the manufacturing domain.

Pakistan”s Ambassador to China observed a new level of consensus, remarking that for the first time, all government bodies, policymakers, and investors are aligned to spur economic expansion. The SAPM attributed this unified approach to the vision and efforts of the Prime Minister in bringing all stakeholders together for the shared objective of economic revival.

The crucial role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was also a key focus. The President of the Gujranwala Chamber highlighted that the city is a hub for over 6,000 SMEs, which form a significant part of Pakistan’s industrial foundation.

Acknowledging the importance of this segment, Mr. Khan noted the Prime Minister”s special interest in empowering smaller enterprises and enhancing the economic participation of women. He subsequently directed the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to adopt a proactive role in assisting SMEs in Gujranwala and addressing their operational hurdles.

Concluding the meeting, the SAPM assured the delegation of the government”s full support in resolving all industry-related matters and extended his congratulations to the new presidents of the LCCI and GCCI on their recent elections.
