Pakistan, Qatar agree to strengthen ties at business-to-business level

Pakistan and Qatar today forged an agreement to pivot their relationship towards direct business-to-business collaboration, a strategic move aimed at leveraging Pakistan”s agricultural prowess to support Qatar’s long-term food security objectives.

The understanding was reached during a high-level meeting on Wednesday between Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Minister for National Food Security and Research, and Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater, the Qatari Ambassador to Pakistan. The discussion centered on transforming the fraternal ties between the nations into a robust economic partnership.

Minister Hussain emphasized Pakistan”s vast potential to supply a range of high-quality agricultural goods. He highlighted key exports such as halal meat, various fruits and vegetables, rice, and livestock fodder, while also introducing a new offering: the production and export of camel milk powder.

To formalize this enhanced cooperation, the minister proposed the establishment of a joint working group dedicated to the agriculture sector. This body would be tasked with creating a formal framework for bilateral collaboration and pinpointing priority projects for immediate focus.

Extending an open invitation, Hussain urged Qatari investors to explore opportunities within Pakistan”s agricultural landscape. He assured the ambassador that the government is committed to its vision of a business-friendly environment and would facilitate any such investments.

Ambassador Al Khater reciprocated the sentiment, reiterating his country’s commitment to deepening relations with Pakistan. He acknowledged Pakistan”s significant agricultural resources and skilled workforce, noting their potential to play a crucial role in Qatar”s Food Security Vision 2030.

Signaling imminent progress, the ambassador announced that the Qatari Minister of Commerce is scheduled to visit Pakistan soon to explore new investment avenues and further solidify the economic partnership.
