Authorities Fortify Capital’s High-Security Zone with Stringent Access Controls

Entry into the federal capital’s high-security red zone has been severely restricted, with only authorized vehicles permitted access after comprehensive identification, as part of a major security overhaul ordered by senior police officials.

According to a statement on Friday, following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Security, Muhammad Ateeq Tariq, convened a high-level meeting to implement robust safety measures. The session was attended by the SSP Security and other ranking officers.

DIG Tariq emphasized the necessity of providing foolproof security for key buildings, national and foreign dignitaries, and sensitive institutions located within the fortified zone.

Under the new protocols, unauthorized vehicles are strictly forbidden from entering the red zone. For the Diplomatic Enclave, access will be granted exclusively upon the verification of complete credentials through official entry cards.

The DIG Security instructed that all deployed personnel must be outfitted with modern and essential equipment. He further mandated the use of proper uniforms, including bulletproof helmets and jackets, for all on-duty staff.

Orders were also issued for daily briefings to be conducted for personnel, which will include guidance on proper weapon handling, maintaining high alert levels, and performing their duties responsibly and efficiently.

Concluding the meeting, DIG Tariq stated that the Islamabad Police is utilizing all available resources to maintain law and order, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in the federal capital.
