Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Musarrat Jamshed Cheema has demanded a relaxation in the mandatory documentation requirements for farmers whose agricultural lands have been completely eroded by riverine floods. She demanded that they be provided with alternative land and resources in view of the increasing severity of the weather.
In a statement on Sunday, Musarrat Cheema stressed that in view of the deteriorating weather, the government should expedite the overall survey and rehabilitation process for the victims. She urged the authorities to immediately start relief delivery and rehabilitation activities in areas where damage assessment has been completed, instead of waiting for the entire survey to conclude.
The PTI central leader also emphasized public transparency, stating that official data based on the details of surveyed areas and the scale of damages should be published. She argued that this would allow for timely identification of any shortcomings in the relief efforts and keep the nation informed.
Musarrat Cheema reiterated that special attention should be paid to the farming community, especially those who have lost their lands due to river erosion, and that a prompt and proactive government response is crucial to alleviate the further hardships of the flood-affected people.
