Civil society threatens token hunger strike against encroachments in Khairpur

Naveed Memon and others from civil society, while announcing a token hunger strike in front of the DC office, have leveled serious allegations against the municipal administration. In a conversation with the media on Wednesday, their stance was that municipal and district authorities have allegedly leased the city’s footpaths to the encroachment mafia in exchange for a hefty sum. Due to the allegations, questions are also being raised about the silence of the Deputy Commissioner (DC).

Khairpur’s civil society has announced a protest and a token hunger strike in front of the DC office. Their goal is to tackle the rampant encroachments facing the city.

Investigations have revealed that key areas like Panjgula Chowk and Railway Phatak have allegedly been leased to encroachment groups, which have become lucrative sources for the Municipal Committee administration.

The civil society has warned that if immediate corrective measures are not taken, they will proceed with a token hunger strike and sit-in to pressure the administration.
