Pakistan and Turkiye Poised to Finalize Major Energy and Mining Deals with High-Level Delegation Visit

Pakistan is preparing to host a high-level Turkish delegation arriving Tuesday, a visit that Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik anticipates will play a “transformational role” in advancing bilateral cooperation in the crucial energy and mining sectors.

The preparations were finalized in a meeting Monday between Minister Malik and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye, H.E. Irfan Neziroglu. The discussions centered on the agenda for the Turkish team, which will be led by Turkiye”s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar.

Also present at the preparatory meeting were Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha and OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak.

During the review of the expanding partnership, it was noted that Turkish Petroleum has already commenced both offshore and onshore exploration activities in Pakistan, a development described as a major milestone in bilateral energy collaboration.

Ambassador Neziroglu confirmed that a leading Turkish mineral sector company will be part of the delegation, reflecting Turkiye”s significant interest in investing and partnering in the development of Pakistan”s mineral resources.

Minister Malik highlighted that a consortium of Pakistan”s primary exploration companies-OGDCL, PPL, and Mari Energies-has joined with Turkish Petroleum (TPAO), a move aimed at creating new opportunities for joint ventures and strengthening their cooperative footprint on the global stage.

Reaffirming his nation”s commitment, Ambassador Neziroglu pointed to “many promising areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” expressing confidence that the ministerial visit will “further cement and deepen Pak Turkiye relations.’

Both parties conveyed their resolve to ensure the successful conduct of the visit, with the shared goal of translating mutual goodwill into meaningful economic and strategic outcomes.
