Islamabad: A high-level diplomatic contingent from sixty-five countries today signalled strong interest in collaborating with Pakistan on disaster preparedness, following a detailed briefing on the nation”s advanced, technology-driven approach to managing emergencies at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters.
Senior envoys, including ambassadors and deputy heads of mission, alongside representatives from forty of Pakistan”s diplomatic missions abroad, toured the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) on Sunday. Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also in attendance.
Chairman of the NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, presented a comprehensive overview of Pakistan”s strategic shift from a reactive to a proactive disaster management framework. He emphasised the critical role of strengthening international cooperation in global disaster risk reduction.
The Chairman informed the forum that Pakistan”s indigenously developed systems facilitate anticipatory actions and informed decision-making across all levels of governance. He underscored the country”s readiness to extend technical expertise and early warning solutions to partner nations.
This offer includes collaboration on replicating the National Emergencies Operation Centre, sharing data, conducting joint training exercises, and formulating coordinated responses to shared climate-induced risks. Progress on memoranda of understanding related to climate resilience was also shared.
The NDMA team demonstrated its Disaster Early Warning and Technology Ecosystem, which features advanced operational dashboards and integrated digital platforms for real-time monitoring of potential hazards.
A key highlight was the Pakistan Disaster Lens 2026, a flagship platform providing high-resolution forecasts and risk analytics designed to enable precision-based preparedness and response planning.
The briefing also covered NDMA”s public outreach initiatives, such as a mobile-based alert system and the new Global Disaster Early Warning Application. This application provides information on global hazard calendars, international simulation exercises, and best practices.
The visiting dignitaries commended Pakistan”s significant advancements in proactive emergency management. They acknowledged the importance of technology integration and regional collaboration to address the growing threat of climate-related disasters.
Following the presentation, the foreign representatives expressed a desire to bolster bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the NDMA, particularly in the fields of early warning systems, disaster preparedness, and capacity development.
