5-Day Comprehensive Faculty Development Program Launched at Latif University Khairpur to Elevate Educational Standards to a Global Level

In a significant move to elevate educational and research standards, Shah Abdul Latif University, in collaboration with the Sindh Higher Education Commission, has launched a five-day faculty development program on Monday, aimed at equipping educators with the skills needed for global competitiveness and funding for international projects.

During his presidential address at the inaugural ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk emphasized that faculty development is crucial for educational enhancement. He stated that this initiative will provide teachers with modern teaching tools, advanced methodologies, and a deeper understanding of research ethics, ultimately benefiting students and strengthening the institution’s research environment.

Dr. Khushk added that the program is designed to enhance the abilities of faculty members to write successful proposals for national and international projects. A key objective is to assist them in securing funding and establishing strong connections with distinguished institutions, thereby boosting the university’s institutional performance.

The comprehensive session is being led by Dr. Altaf Soomro from IBA Sukkur University, the designated resource person from the Sindh Higher Education Commission. In his remarks, Dr. Soomro highlighted the importance of such training and praised the services of the master trainers from Shah Abdul Latif University.

The workshop, organized under the supervision of Assistant Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khokhar, features expert master trainers from Shah Abdul Latif University, IBA Sukkur University, and the University of Larkana delivering the curriculum.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Wahid Bux Jatoi and Dr. Altaf Soomro presented a detailed overview of the curriculum. The training covers a wide range of topics including pedagogical development, effective teaching and communication skills, research methodology, proposal writing for securing global funds, quality assurance policies, student counseling, professional ethics, and the effective use of modern technology, including artificial intelligence tools.

Professor Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro delivered the vote of thanks, stressing the need for continuous learning in the ever-changing educational landscape. He noted that as universities adapt to global changes, the faculty must also evolve, adding that even experienced professors require ongoing training as knowledge is constantly advancing.

Faculty members from the university’s main campus, as well as its satellite campuses in Ghotki and Shahdadkot, are participating in the development program. Dr. Muzaffar Sarohi confirmed that this initiative is part of a broader series of training sessions organized by the Sindh Higher Education Commission for various universities in the province.

The workshop will continue until Friday, December 5, and will conclude with a certificate distribution ceremony, marking a shared commitment to applying the acquired skills for tangible academic enhancement and strengthening the country’s higher education system.
