PCJCCI Lauds Pakistan’s New Economic Roadmap

Pakistan has initiated a new economic roadmap to accelerate Phase II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major policy shift that includes China’s commitment to finance 85 percent of the strategic Karakoram Highway (KKH) Project.

The Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) today characterized the move as a transformative step toward sustainable national development. The second phase of the CPEC initiative is designed to transition Pakistan’s economy from infrastructure-driven growth to an expansion model centered on innovation. Key objectives include industrial modernization, digital transformation, and improved governance, with 2026 designated as the ‘Year of Reform and Modernization’ to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and foster a pro-investment climate.

Nazir Hussain, President of PCJCCI, described the new direction as a “bold and future-focused approach.” He stated that high-tech industrialization and deeper cooperation with China would create new opportunities for industries, youth, and entrepreneurs, affirming the chamber”s commitment to facilitating the economic transition.

Further infrastructure developments were detailed by Brig. Mansoor Saeed Sheikh (Retd), Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, who announced that the bidding process for the Thakot-Raikot Motorway is scheduled to begin within the next two months. He also noted an expansion of provincial-level cooperation under CPEC to ensure balanced regional growth.

Human capital development has been identified as a critical component of the new roadmap. Zafar Iqbal, Vice President of PCJCCI, emphasized that empowering youth and women aligns with the chamber”s vision for an inclusive, knowledge-driven economy and pledged support for initiatives promoting skill enhancement and industrial competitiveness.

In a concluding statement, Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of PCJCCI, reaffirmed the organization”s dedication to supporting all measures aimed at strengthening Pakistan-China economic integration and advancing the nation”s sustainable growth objectives.
