BTK Stars, thanks to Qurban Brohi’s brilliant century and Saeed Hassan’s excellent all-round performance, defeated DHA City by 88 runs in the final to clinch the DHA City Cricket Tournament title.
Deciding to bat first on Monday, BTK Stars set a huge total of 242 runs in the allotted overs. The innings was anchored by Brohi’s magnificent century, with Saeed Hassan playing a crucial role by scoring 80 runs.
In pursuit of the target, the entire DHA City team was bowled out for 154 runs. Naveed Paleri and Juma Khan took two wickets each, while the splendid bowling of Saeed Hassan and Talal sealed a comprehensive victory for their team.
Individual awards were given after the match. Saeed Hassan was named Player of the Tournament, Qurban Brohi was Man of the Final, and Saad Ali was declared the Best Bowler of the tournament. DHA City’s Additional Director Lieutenant Colonel Ali Asghar distributed the prizes.
BTK Stars captain Afeef Ali Khan said that his team performed well throughout the competition. Qurban Brohi mentioned that this is the team’s third tournament victory, and added that they have also reached the finals of two other events which they want to win to pay tribute to their chief patron, Ahmed Chauhan.
Brohi further said that organizing such tournaments brings out the talents of the players and that youth should fully participate in positive activities.
During the closing ceremony, social leader Ahmed Chauhan, along with Sheikh Sajid Karim and Sardar Kamran Khan Tareen, said that sports play an important role in the physical development of the youth and he stressed the need to populate the city’s grounds.
Chauhan added that the passion for cricket is growing at the local level, which is providing valuable opportunities for young players to showcase their skills.
