Ghotki district authorities have decided to launch a major operation against various illegal activities, including curbing smuggling and illicit trade operations, as well as the dissemination of anti-state material and spreading religious hatred. This decision was made in a high-level District Coordination Committee meeting held today.
The directive was given on Saturday during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ghotki, Manzoor Ahmed Kunrani, who emphasized that this action is necessary for the implementation of the National Action Plan. The meeting was attended by senior police officers, SSP Muhammad Anwar Khetran, and representatives from security agencies, Rangers, Customs, OGRA, and other relevant government departments.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Kunrani issued a stern warning to all government departments, stating that full implementation of the committee’s decisions is mandatory. He stressed that this is a matter of national policy with no room for compromise, and performance reports of non-compliant departments will be sent to higher authorities.
The DC ordered effective action against non-customs paid vehicles, narcotics, unlicensed petrol pumps, and the illegal sale of LPG. He also announced that, upon identification by the Forest Department, the sugarcane crop cultivated on encroached forest land in the Katcha area will be confiscated.
SSP Muhammad Anwar Khetran confirmed that a strategy has been devised to take action against individuals spreading anti-state propaganda or inciting religious strife using social media. He assured that strict measures would be taken against these and other illegal activities.
As a preventive measure, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Education Department to launch awareness programs in schools to educate students about the dangers of drugs and anti-state material, aiming to foster a positive and civic mindset among the youth.
During the briefing, a customs official reported on the successes of recent operations, stating that smuggled cigarettes worth 41 million rupees have been seized in Ghotki district. The official assured that such anti-smuggling operations would continue.
