Police Initiative Targets Female Students to Combat Distracted Driving and Road Hazards

Addressing critical road safety concerns such as the use of mobile phones while driving and over-speeding, the Islamabad Capital Police has conducted an awareness workshop for more than 300 female students at the Government Degree College for Women in Rawalpindi.

According to the police information today, the session is part of a continuous awareness campaign being conducted at various educational and private centers, following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

Organized by the police”s education wing under the instructions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Capt. (R) Hamzah Humayun, the one-day workshop focused on educating the student body about essential traffic laws and regulations.

Participants were briefed on a range of safety protocols, including the necessity of wearing seat belts, the risks of riding motorcycles without helmets, and the importance of respecting the rights of other road users. The training also covered the proper use of pedestrian infrastructure like footbridges and zebra crossings.

Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the perils of common traffic law infractions, including excessive speed and one-way violations.

The college administration commended the police for the informative session, stating that the students learned many important things and emphasizing that such valuable workshops should continue in the future.

CTO Hamzah Humayun stated that the primary objective of the initiative was to raise traffic awareness among students to help reduce road accidents. He added that the goal is to develop a sense of responsibility so that attendees can remain safe and set a positive example for others.
