5 killed, one injured in separate accidents due to severe fog and speeding in Okara

Five people, including a husband and wife, were killed and one person was injured in two separate traffic accidents caused by speeding and severe fog.

The first accident occurred on Tuesday morning on the bypass road near Basirpur town, where a speeding trailer hit a motorcycle. As a result, all three riders, identified as Kashif Nawaz, his wife Iram Bibi, and his sister-in-law Kinza Bibi, died on the spot. All three belonged to Basirpur.

The second fatal incident also occurred early in the morning near Mulgadda Chowk when a car fell from a bridge into a canal due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. In this accident, Muhammad Ajmal and Khizar Hayat, residents of village 37/4-L, were killed. The third passenger of the car, Muhammad Irshad, was injured.

Rescue 1122 emergency teams were immediately dispatched to both accident sites. They moved the bodies of the deceased and the injured person to the hospital for necessary care and post-mortem.

Authorities have confirmed that the bodies have been handed over to the heirs for burial and legal proceedings regarding the incidents have been initiated. These double tragedies have cast a pall of gloom over the area, with residents expressing concern over the rising number of road accidents and the lack of safety measures during adverse weather conditions.
