Law enforcement officials and academic leaders have initiated a joint offensive to eliminate drug abuse, launching a comprehensive strategy aimed at protecting the city”s youth from the narcotics trade.
According to a police office report today, in a high-level coordination meeting at the Central Police Office, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, met with senior police officials and representatives from various schools and colleges. A primary outcome of the assembly was the formal appointment of dedicated focal persons from both police and educational bodies to ensure streamlined communication and effective collaboration.
The participants agreed to formulate a detailed strategy focused on the complete eradication of narcotics. The plan includes organizing special awareness seminars to educate students on the detrimental effects of substance abuse. All parties reaffirmed a commitment to utilize every available resource, emphasizing that no leniency or negligence would be tolerated in the effort to safeguard the future of the younger generation.
IGP Rizvi stated that law enforcement agencies across Pakistan are actively working against narcotics at the government level. He highlighted that the Islamabad Police”s “Nasha Ab Nahi” campaign is a significant component of this broader national effort. To enhance the initiative”s effectiveness, he announced that representatives from academic institutions would receive specialized training for improved monitoring and intervention.
The police chief urged all educational institutions to cooperate fully with law enforcement departments. He specifically requested that heads of schools and colleges jointly conduct awareness campaigns with police to educate students about the dangers of illicit substances and build a strong preventative front.
Expressing his firm resolve, the IGP reiterated that authorities would not only dismantle the networks of drug dealers but would also expose every individual involved in this “disgusting and criminal trade.” He assured that all culprits would be subjected to strict legal action and brought before the courts to be dealt with in accordance with the law.
