Following a record-breaking event in February 2025 where over 175,000 books were sold, the University of the Punjab has announced it will organise the nation’s largest annual book fair from January 29 to 31, 2026.
The three-day literary event is scheduled to be held at the university”s New Campus, as confirmed by the PU administration in a statement released on Tuesday. The initiative received formal approval from Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali. In line with the VC”s directives, a committee has been established to manage and finalise all preparations for the upcoming fair.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Mahmood has been appointed to lead the preparatory committee. He recently chaired a high-level meeting to review the arrangements and delegate tasks to ensure the smooth execution of the event.
The organisational meeting was attended by senior officials including Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, Acting Chief Librarian Muhammad Asif Khan, and DG Rehan Sadiq, who collaborated on finalising the operational plan for the 2026 book fair.
