The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalised the list of contenders for two new HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams, with ten bidders successfully passing the technical evaluation stage while two were disqualified from the process.

The PCB’s Bidding Committee today announced the completion of its evaluation, which examined a total of 12 proposals submitted by interested parties from around the world. The thorough review, which was conducted over three days, ensured that all technically qualified bidders met the necessary criteria.

These ten contenders will now advance to the final bidding stage, an auction scheduled to take place on Thursday, 8 January, 2026. The high-stakes event will be held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, where the franchise rights for the two new teams will be awarded.

Following the auction, the successful bidders will be granted the right to select a team name and home city from a pre-approved list of six locations: Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot.

HBL PSL CEO Salman Naseer congratulated the qualified parties and acknowledged the significant level of interest from both domestic and international investors. ‘The HBL PSL extends its congratulations to all qualified bidders and appreciates the strong interest shown by both local and international investors,’ he stated.

Naseer also thanked the parties whose proposals were not submitted in time and expressed optimism about future collaborations. ‘The league looks forward to achieving another significant milestone in the expansion and evolution of the HBL PSL as we now prepare for the eagerly awaited auction.’

The PCB has confirmed that further details regarding the auction will be released at a later date.
