The Pakistan Association of Exhibition Industry has announced preparations for a second “Made in Pakistan Exhibition and Business Investment Conference” in Colombo, aiming to establish new trade avenues and introduce a wide array of Pakistani products to the Sri Lankan market.
According to a statement today, the plan was disclosed following a meeting in Colombo between the association”s Founder Chairman, Khurshid Barlas, and Major General (Rtd) Faheem ul Aziz, Pakistan”s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.
Mr Barlas detailed that the forthcoming exhibition is expected to feature a diverse range of sectors, including textiles, food products, electrical appliances, kitchenware, consumer goods, footwear, ceramics, furniture, gems and jewellery, and sports equipment.
The showcase will also include participants from the machinery, chemical, tourism, and hospitality industries, alongside various service providers.
The High Commissioner, Major General (Rtd) Faheem ul Aziz, commended the initiative and assured the organisers of his full cooperation, stating that such efforts to enhance the country”s economy are praiseworthy.
Discussing the local economic climate, the diplomat described Sri Lanka”s investment environment as increasingly attractive, citing its liberal foreign investment system, favourable government policies, strategic location, and adaptable workforce.
He emphasised that immense opportunities exist to expand bilateral trade, urging for the identification of areas where Sri Lanka could prioritise imports from Pakistan over other nations.
Mr Barlas also briefed the High Commissioner on the association”s past experience organising international expositions in Saudi Arabia, the UK, Bahrain, and Bangladesh.
The meeting concluded with Mr Barlas presenting a shield to the High Commissioner to mark the occasion.
