Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday ordered a relentless and indiscriminate campaign against organised criminal groups involved in illegal immigration, declaring that those engaged in human smuggling deserve no leniency.
The directive was issued while the minister was chairing a high-level meeting in the capital, convened to review the performance of the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) immigration wing.
The Interior Minister articulated that Pakistan’s international reputation could not be compromised under any circumstances and instructed the FIA to ensure the effective enforcement of all immigration statutes.
Mr Naqvi also stressed the necessity of further strengthening the immigration checking systems currently in place at airports. The problem of organised begging was also addressed during the session, prompting the minister to command an effective crackdown against the professional beggar mafia and their facilitators.
