A launch ceremony for the book “Patangan Phuh Kiya”, written with the aim of preserving the intellectual heritage of eminent academic, literary, and social personalities, was held at the National Press Club Thatta on Tuesday.
Addressing the ceremony, renowned Sindhi poet Ahmed Solangi described Ramzan Memon’s work as a collection of literary sketches. He said that the author has effectively presented the thoughts, character, and struggles of the discussed personalities in an emotional language, and has highlighted the significant social role of these individuals.
Solangi further added that Memon has moved away from traditional sketch writing and has included a beautiful analysis of the personalities’ work in a narrative style, and he praised the literary tone and extensive vocabulary of the author’s prose.
Prominent columnist Muhammad Khan Abro said that the author has successfully revealed the inner state, social role, and intellectual identity of the individuals included in the book, and termed it an example of excellent sketch writing.
Abro further stated that ‘Patangan Phuh Kiya’ is a significant addition to Sindhi prose literature, which provides readers with an opportunity to connect with various living personalities on an intellectual level.
Other speakers, including Ali Muhammad Parvez, Khalid Rajpar, Khair Muhammad Kohi, and Noor Sarai, also praised the author’s prose, observation, and presentation. They collectively expressed that this book sketches characters who play a significant role in social change and will be helpful in understanding their contributions.
In his concluding remarks, the author, Ramzan Memon, thanked the guests and explained that his effort was to preserve these personalities in a literary manner, so that their intellectual heritage could be passed on to future generations.
The ceremony also featured a musical arrangement, in which Faiz Samejo, Anwar Arzoo, and Ghulam Ali Bhatti presented songs for the audience.
