Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan Finalise Plans for Major Cultural Showcase in islamabad

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to stage a significant cultural festival, with Kyrgyz Cultural Days tentatively scheduled to be held in the capital during the last week of March 2026, following a high-level diplomatic meeting.

The agreement was reached during talks between the Ambassador of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan, Kylychbek Sultan, and Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, at the division”s offices, according to a report on Wednesday.

The deliberations focused on enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. Minister Khichi recalled that the initiative follows a recent meeting between the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, where strengthening public contacts was a key point of discussion.

The planned one- to two-day event will present a diverse array of Kyrgyz heritage, including handicrafts, cuisine, traditional costumes, and exhibitions of art and photography. The showcase will also feature film screenings, music, and dance performances.

As part of the arrangement, the government of Pakistan will arrange local hospitality for the visiting Kyrgyz delegation. Ambassador Sultan stated he would coordinate with the Kyrgyz government and confirm participation by the end of this month to allow for the timely finalisation of arrangements.

The ambassador also informed the minister that the Kyrgyz delegation plans to visit Lahore. The federal minister suggested that after holding cultural events in Islamabad, the delegation could proceed to the provincial capital for further engagements.

To facilitate coordination, Ms Ambreen Zahara, Joint Secretary (Aand IC) at the National Heritage and Culture Division, has been nominated as the focal person from the Pakistani side. The ambassador was also requested to arrange a coordination meeting with the Kyrgyz Honorary Consul General in Lahore.

It was also noted during the meeting that Pakistan is planning to host Nowruz celebrations, to which several countries, including Kyrgyzstan, will be invited. The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to further strengthening cultural ties.
