Rawalpindi Mega Project: 3 Flyovers and 3 Underpasses Under Construction at Kutchery Chowk, Traffic Flow Affected)

Under the Rawalpindi Mega Project, three flyovers and three underpasses are under construction at Kutchery Chowk, due to which traffic flow is affected.

A traffic police spokesperson on Thursday requested citizens to add an extra 25 to 30 minutes to their travel times and avoid unnecessary trips towards Kutchery Chowk, as traffic flow is being affected due to construction work on a major infrastructure project.

The advisory was issued due to the rapidly progressing Kutchery Chowk mega project, which involves the construction of three flyovers and three underpasses. According to officials, more than 200,000 vehicles used to pass through this major intersection daily.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam acknowledged that managing the traffic of over 200,000 vehicles on alternative routes was a major challenge. To facilitate movement, more than 450 traffic police personnel are deployed 24/7.

The CTO thanked the public, praising their commendable patience and restraint during the temporary closure. “With the full cooperation of the citizens, traffic on alternative routes was effectively managed. We are deeply grateful for the citizens’ full cooperation and patience,” said Mr. Aslam.

He described the current disruption as “temporary inconvenience for future ease,” assuring that with public cooperation, traffic arrangements would be further improved until the project is completed.

In a concluding statement, the traffic police appealed to road users to maintain similar cooperation until the completion of the Kutchery mega project.
