Pakistan Muslim League Functional Sindh’s General Secretary, Sardar Abdul Rahim, has termed the loss of precious lives and damages worth crores of rupees in the Gul Plaza fire incident as the government’s incompetence.
In his statement on Sunday, Rahim demanded an immediate review of the fire department’s operational failures. He urged for decisive action against all individuals found responsible for negligence in handling the incident.
The General Secretary cited the late arrival of the fire brigade as a primary reason for the large-scale spread of the fire.
Rahim stressed that the failure of emergency services to control the fire, despite the passage of several hours, is a serious administrative lapse.
He also criticized the “highly regrettable” absence of the city’s top administrative officials at the scene during the crisis.
Expressing solidarity with the victims, Sardar Abdul Rahim urged the government to announce immediate financial assistance for the families of the deceased. He also demanded compensation for the injured and for the affected traders who lost their livelihoods in this devastating fire.
