Authorities have set a deadline of late March for a comprehensive cleaning campaign of the city’s drainage system, a critical measure to prevent flooding and improve stormwater management.
The directive, issued during a high-level meeting held today, places special emphasis on the priority cleaning and securing of drains located in central commercial areas and along major thoroughfares.
To ensure accountability and monitor the progress of the work, a special committee will be established to oversee the project.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, who appealed to the public to cooperate with the government’s initiatives.
He said that the regular maintenance of drains is fundamental to fortifying the city against waterlogging and also contributes significantly to its overall cleanliness and beauty.
