Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said on Thursday that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has placed all its teams on high alert following ongoing rainfall across the city, according to Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. To manage the situation, all drainage pumping stations have been made fully operational to ensure the swift clearance of rainwater.
In a statement, the Mayor confirmed that precipitation has commenced in various parts of the metropolis, prompting the immediate activation of municipal response systems.
Mayor Wahab stated that field personnel are actively present in various areas, meticulously observing the conditions to prevent any potential difficulties for residents. He added that the performance of the drainage network is also under close scrutiny.
The Mayor gave assurances that any public complaints related to water accumulation or drainage issues would be met with an immediate response from the relevant departments.
To further streamline the response, an emergency cell has been established by the KMC. The Mayor explained that this unit is dedicated to handling any urgent situations and ensuring that citizens” grievances are addressed in a timely manner.
