National – Italy to Recruit 10,000 Pakistani Workers, New Visa Centre Announced

Italy plans to recruit a significant workforce from Pakistan, with the intent to issue approximately 10,000 visas in an upcoming phase, Italian Ambassador Marilina Armellin announced.

According to an official report today, the envoy also revealed plans to establish a new Italian visa centre in Multan to streamline services for workers from South Punjab.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting between an Italian delegation and Chairman Senate Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani at Gilani House, held prior to a dinner hosted in the ambassador”s honour.

During the discussions, which covered bilateral relations and economic cooperation, Chairman Gilani commended Italy for its crucial contributions to preserving Multan”s historical heritage. He noted that Italian assistance was instrumental in the rehabilitation of several of the city’s ancient gates, which are emblematic of its rich civilisation and cultural identity.

The Chairman added that the historical connections between Multan and Rome serve to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Italy.

Ambassador Armellin elaborated that the forthcoming visa centre in Multan will facilitate the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and provide other related services, directly benefiting the populace of the region. The Italian delegation also included Mr Domenico Polloni and First Secretary Mr Augusto Palmieri.

The subsequent dinner was attended by distinguished guests including MNA Syed Abdul Qadir Gillani, MPA Syed Ali Haider Gillani, and President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bakhtawar Tanvir, alongside other notable industrialists and local figures.

Participants at the gathering stressed the necessity of further enhancing bilateral ties, promoting the protection of cultural heritage, increasing economic cooperation, and expanding the workforce exchange between the two nations.
