Pakistan and Uzbekistan are poised to deepen their collaboration, with Tashkent expressing a desire to develop a public park in the capital and an interest in importing key Pakistani agricultural products, following a high-level diplomatic meeting today.
According to a report today, the proposals were discussed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
During the meeting, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan”s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Central Asian nation across several vital sectors, including food and agriculture, mining, information technology, tourism, health, and banking.
He stressed the importance of effective follow-up on the outcomes of the recent state visit to Pakistan by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, describing the trip as historic and result-oriented.
The President noted that Pakistan welcomes Uzbekistan”s interest in importing halal meat, fruits, and potatoes, viewing it as a positive development for augmenting bilateral trade between the two brotherly countries.
Ambassador Tukhtaev formally informed President Zardari of Uzbekistan”s wish to develop Babar Park in the F-7 Sector of Islamabad. He stated that a relevant Uzbek Minister would travel to Islamabad next week to hold discussions with Pakistani authorities concerning the park”s construction.
The Uzbek envoy also delivered a letter from President Mirziyoyev to his Pakistani counterpart.
In the correspondence, the Uzbek leader expressed his gratitude to President Zardari, the government, and the people of Pakistan for the extraordinary hospitality extended to him during his visit. He also conveyed his appreciation for being conferred the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the nation”s highest civil award, as well as an honourary professorship and doctorate.
President Zardari conveyed his thanks to President Mirziyoyev for his message of solidarity and support following the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad.
Both nations reiterated their shared resolve to continue a joint journey toward peace, regional stability, and mutual development.
