Pakistan Warns of Devastating Consequences Amid Fragile South Sudan Peace Process

Pakistan has issued a stark warning that the prevailing situation in South Sudan is ‘extremely fragile’ and that a failure to act decisively could have devastating consequences for the South Sudanese people and the wider region.

The cautionary message was delivered by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan”s Permanent Representative to the UN, while giving a statement at a United Nations Security Council briefing concerning the African nation, according to a report by MOIB today.

Addressing the council, the ambassador made an explicit call for a renewed political commitment to the country”s peace process.
