The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) torched prohibited smuggled goods with an international market value of 123 million rupees in a public ceremony held near Hassan Shah Mazar.
The ceremony, held today, was organized to prevent the circulation of illegal items and to raise awareness in society about the menace of smuggling and drugs.
The large stash of destroyed prohibited goods included 9,720 kilograms of betel nuts, 31,313 packets of Indian gutka, 450 kilograms of naswar, and 10,250 kilograms of China salt.
Additionally, 6,655 cartons of foreign cigarettes, 5,259 kilograms of katha and guraku, 90 kilograms of poppy seeds, and various types of prohibited medicines were also torched.
Military and civil officers, as well as distinguished guests from various sectors of society, attended the event.
A spokesperson for the organization stated that such public destruction events are held at various times throughout the year. It was reiterated that the Pakistan Coast Guards will continue to fully play its role in curbing smuggling and drug trafficking, which will help strengthen the national economy.
