Authorities have reiterated that transacting through these parallel remittance systems is a criminal offense. These informal fund transfers operate outside of state-regulated financial channels, undermining financial governance and control.
The operation of these underground banking systems is considered to have a detrimental effect on the national exchequer. By bypassing official banking routes, these networks deprive the country of legitimate revenue and weaken the formal economy.
In an effort to dismantle these criminal syndicates, the FIA is taking strict measures and is appealing to the public to cooperate by reporting any known Hawala or Hundi operators.
