A Senate sub-committee on Tuesday directed the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Ministry of Federal Education to provide comprehensive written replies to a six-point questionnaire concerning key operational and performance matters within ten days.
The instruction was issued during a meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, which continued its scrutiny of the vocational education body’s governance and financial management.
Presided over by Senator Kamran Murtaza, the session saw Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan, the mover of the agenda, present the detailed questionnaire seeking clarifications from the commission and ministry officials.
Following discussion, the presiding officer ordered that the written responses, supported by relevant documentation, be submitted for the panel”s further examination.
During the proceedings, NAVTTC officials informed the committee that a complainant in a related matter had been unresponsive to repeated attempts at contact via official calls and emails, a submission the members noted.
The commission also furnished information and data that had been requisitioned during the sub-committee”s previous meeting. The members stated this material would be reviewed in detail during subsequent sittings.
Reaffirming the committee’s mandate, Senator Murtaza emphasised the critical role of transparency, evidence-based assessment, and effective parliamentary oversight in strengthening institutional performance and ensuring equitable outcomes nationwide.
The meeting concluded with the matter being deferred to the next session, pending timely compliance with the committee’s directives.
