To prevent street crime before Eid, Karachi Police have significantly increased their presence by establishing police reporting camps in major commercial centers, and have issued instructions to intensify patrols and snap checking.
The city’s Additional Inspector General, Azad Khan, during a visit today to prominent shopping areas including Clifton’s Gulf Shopping Mall, Zebunnisa Street, Cooperative Market, and Zainab Market, personally inspected the security arrangements. He was accompanied by senior officials including DIG South and SSP South during the review of the security situation.
According to a police spokesperson, the Additional IG ordered the enhancement of security measures to ensure a “foolproof” environment for shoppers. Special instructions were also given to improve traffic flow and vehicle parking management in congested commercial centers.
During his visit, Mr. Khan met with representatives of the local business community. The traders expressed their satisfaction with the enhanced security measures and presented a bouquet to the police chief as a gesture of gratitude.
The Karachi Police reiterated their commitment to the protection of citizens and urged the public to remain vigilant, and to immediately report any suspicious individual or activity to its helpline 15.
