Chief Minister Balochistan orders to expedite gas-based fertilizer project to enhance local jobs, food security

The Balochistan government has been directed to expedite the implementation of the proposed low BTU gas-based fertilizer project, a move aimed at enhancing national food security and creating significant employment opportunities locally.

This directive was issued by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday during a high-level meeting, where the project’s strategic, technical, and economic significance was reviewed in detail.

Officials briefed the meeting that the project is expected to increase local fertilizer production, thereby strengthening the country’s agricultural base.

Chief Minister Bugti directed that the project be made viable under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which he described as “the best example of efficiency, investment, and sustainability.”

Emphasizing the project’s potential to foster industrial development, the Chief Minister ordered that the local population should be prioritized for employment opportunities.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti also stressed the need to pay special attention to the promotion of subsidiary and ancillary industries linked to the central facility.

He emphasized the timely completion of the feasibility process and urged all relevant departments to ensure effective coordination for the rapid implementation of the project.

The review meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Energy Mir Asghar Rind, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade Bilal Khan Kakar, among other key officials.
