In a major move for accountability, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has made weekly progress updates on the Punjab Development Program mandatory and directed the Local Government Department to provide comprehensive reports on all ongoing civic initiatives across the province.
These instructions were issued today during a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to review the status and progress of public works.
Under the new instructions, officials are now required to submit a weekly report detailing the advancement of schemes under the overarching Punjab Development Programme. This measure is aimed at ensuring timely completion and adherence to project timelines.
Furthermore, a specific directive has been issued to the Local Government Department. The department must now present detailed briefings on the status of every ongoing project within each city in Punjab.
This dual-pronged approach of scrutinising both large-scale provincial programmes and localised urban projects indicates the administration”s intent to closely monitor the pace of development and enhance transparency in project execution throughout the region.
