Extensive Security Sweeps Lead to Apprehensions, Weapon Seizures in Federal Capital

Twenty illegally residing Afghan nationals and 56 suspicious individuals have been taken into custody following widespread search and combing exercises undertaken by Islamabad Police across the federal capital.

According to a police report today, these security drives also led to the apprehension of suspects possessing illicit weapons, from whom four pistols and their corresponding ammunition were seized.

The stringent actions align with directives issued by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aiming to curtail criminal activity and enhance public safety within the metropolis.

Security personnel carried out these search and combing initiatives across various police station jurisdictions, overseen by zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs).

During these wide-ranging sweeps, authorities meticulously inspected 712 persons, 1,108 residences, 182 commercial establishments, 32 hotels, 381 motorcycles, and 141 vehicles. Consequently, 20 Afghan citizens residing unlawfully, 56 individuals deemed suspicious, 47 motorcycles, and two vehicles were transferred to police stations for due legal process.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, underscored that the principal aim of these drives is to tighten the security net around criminal elements and bolster the city”s overall security infrastructure.

He further affirmed the resolve of the Islamabad Police to maintain unsparing action against criminals, those involved in illegal land occupation, and drug traffickers.

Citizens have been encouraged to collaborate with law enforcement by promptly notifying the nearest police station or utilising the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” concerning any suspicious occurrences.
