Local – Okara Farmers’ Board’s struggle bore fruit, canal cleaning began, long-standing irrigation problem solved

The cleaning process of Janpur Rajbaha in Okara commenced today, which had become a long-standing issue for local farmers due to its deteriorating condition and difficulties in water drainage and crop irrigation.

For a long time, the poor condition of the waterway severely impacted effective water flow and created significant challenges in obtaining essential water for farming in the area.

This positive development came after continuous efforts by the Okara Farmers’ Board to highlight farmers’ issues. Jahangir Khan Ghauri, President of Karwan Fikr-o-Amal, praised the Board’s leadership, specifically mentioning Pir Ashfaq Ahmed, Central General Secretary of Punjab, and Sardar Mateen-ul-Haq, District President.

Mr. Ghauri highlighted that these key figures successfully conveyed the difficulties faced by farmers to the relevant officials of the Irrigation Department, which initiated practical remedial measures.

The official commencement of the canal’s renovation is expected to significantly strengthen local agriculture and make water supply for crops more reliable. Hope was expressed for continued commitment to resolve the issues of the agricultural community in the future.
