Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan, today emphasized that Pakistan has emerged as a state providing regional stability after a “great victory in the war of truth” and “a practical test of its defense capability” which demonstrated “clear superiority over India.” Addressing an event at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), he stressed the country’s strong retaliatory action given in response to past hostilities.
Mr. Khan, who served as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States and China, and was a Permanent Representative to the United Nations, spoke in detail about “Operation Bunyad al-Marsus.” He termed it a practical test of Pakistan’s military might, which not only yielded beneficial results but also demonstrated clear superiority over its neighbor.
He said that during India’s unprovoked aggression last year, Pakistan’s effective and resolute response proved to be a pivotal moment in the country’s history, solidifying it as a powerful, capable, and responsible regional actor. Mr. Khan paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, who delivered a precise, proportionate, and decisive response against Indian infiltration. He emphasized that Pakistan’s defensive actions taken on May 6 last year successfully protected its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
Beyond the battlefield, Mr. Khan highlighted Pakistan’s success on the communication and diplomatic fronts. He noted that modern warfare strategy goes beyond military engagement, incorporating strategic communications and diplomacy. According to him, Pakistan effectively countered misinformation with a fact-based stance, resulting in gaining international trust.
He further revealed that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts during and after the military tensions achieved significant strategic advantages, including strengthening relations with major global powers, especially with the United States, and increased cooperation with regional allies such as Saudi Arabia. Mr. Khan observed a significant increase in Pakistan’s diplomatic importance, with prominent countries showing eagerness for closer ties and strategic alignment.
Speaking about Pakistan’s growing role in global diplomacy, Mr. Khan mentioned that the country’s mediation efforts amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran gained unprecedented trust and recognition internationally.
Addressing students at NUST, he pointed out that approximately two-thirds of Pakistan’s population consists of youth, whom he termed the true partners in the nation’s future. He encouraged students to prepare to take on leadership responsibilities, aligning with Pakistan’s aspiration to become one of the world’s major economies by 2047.
Concluding his remarks, Mr. Khan emphasized the importance of economic stability, technological innovation, and investment promotion. He stated that Pakistan should prioritize establishing a strong economic foundation to capitalize on its strategic successes, aiming not only to be a secure state but also a hub of prosperity in the region. He affirmed Pakistan’s full potential to play a pivotal role in fostering regional stability and cooperation, while also stressing the importance of continuous vigilance in view of existing regional threats.
