Tender process related to Balochistan Assembly building suspended

Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday upheld the order to suspend the tender process related to the Balochistan Provincial Assembly building.

During the hearing of a constitutional petition filed in the Balochistan High Court against the demolition of the Balochistan Assembly building, the court accepted the Advocate General’s request to file a response and upheld the order to suspend the tender process related to the assembly building.

The constitutional petition filed against the demolition of the Balochistan Assembly building was heard by a division bench of the Balochistan High Court comprising Chief Justice Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Mulakhel and Justice Muhammad Najmuddin Mengal. The petitioner, Amanullah Kanrani Advocate, took the stand that it was necessary to review the legal points on the decision to demolish the assembly building.

During the hearing, Advocate General Balochistan Adnan Basharat and Additional Advocate General appeared in the court, while the Speaker Balochistan Assembly and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister sought more time to submit their reply. The Balochistan High Court, while accepting the government’s request for adjournment, extended the stay order issued on May 4 and continued to direct that the proceedings on the tender related to the demolition of the assembly building be suspended. The court adjourned further hearing of the case indefinitely.
