Amendments in the local government system have paralyzed the system: Mayor Tehsil Abbottabad

Tehsil Mayor Sardar Shuja Nabi openly criticized the recent changes in the local government system, stating that these changes harm Imran Khan’s decentralization-based governance vision.

Nabi expressed these concerns during a conversation with journalists at his residence today, stating that these amendments have significantly affected Khan’s set operational framework. Despite contemplating resignation twice, Nabi decided to stay in his position to support his party during its difficulties and during Khan’s imprisonment.

He acknowledged not fully meeting public expectations but reiterated his commitment to Khan’s ideology. Nabi urged Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) to focus on policy formulation instead of interfering in local governance matters.

The Mayor expressed his intention to participate in the upcoming elections and indicated consulting with community elders, youth, and leaders for effective strategy. He highlighted the provincial government’s failure to allocate sufficient funds and criticized the hasty amendments made to the Local Government Act, which were initially under Khan’s vision.

Nabi explained the difficulties arising from external interference, which hindered effective service delivery. He thanked journalists for highlighting these issues and reiterated his commitment to serving the public during these challenges.
