Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Tuesday urged the media to avoid describing terrorists as “militants,” saying the term understated the gravity of acts of terrorism, while the government formally protested to Afghanistan over the recent attack on a Pakistan Rangers facility in Karachi.
In a message on X, Tarar said: “Terrorists are terrorists, they have no caste, colour, creed or religion. There seems to be a trend of calling these terrorists, “militants” which is extremely unfortunate. In a latest news report, TRT World @trtworld is now using this term. The Karachi attack was a terrorist attack, in which innocent people were killed. Terrorists must not be called by any other name.”
Tarar said the assault on the Rangers headquarters in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, in which security personnel were killed, was a terrorist attack.
Additionally, ISPR said that on 27 June 2026, a cowardly terrorist attack was carried out on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Camp in Karachi by Khwarij belonging to Indian proxy, Jamaat ul Ahrar.
The assailants, after a blast at main gate of the Camp, attempted to breach the perimeter security, however, their nefarious designs were decisively foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of Rangers troops eliminating three Kharjis and capturing one Kharji, who is an Afghan national, in injured condition.
During fire exchange, three brave sons of soil, rendered the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat in the line of duty, while 4x soldiers are injured.
Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored kharji in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision ‘Azm e Istehkam’ by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Pakistan shall undertake retribution operations against the perpetrators of this attack to avenge the Shahadat of its soldiers.
COAS and CDF expresses his deepest condolences with the families of the brave soldiers. These sacrifices further reinforce our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our nation at all costs.
