Polio eradication campaign to commence in Karachi today, targeting polio vaccination for 2.5 million children

A significant polio immunization campaign is set to begin in Karachi on July 6, aiming to safeguard the health of 2.5 million children in the city.

In preparation for the campaign, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi convened a meeting today to review the preparations for this important public health initiative. It was revealed that a vast force of 26,000 polio workers will be mobilized to effectively deliver vaccine doses.

Security is a major concern, and to ensure the safety of the personnel involved in the campaign, 7,000 security officers will be deployed during the campaign. This is a crucial step to maintain the well-being of the workers and ensure the smooth implementation of the program.

Commissioner Naqvi emphasized the importance of reaching every child, particularly those who were previously missed or whose guardians have expressed hesitancy about the vaccine. He directed all deputy commissioners to focus on achieving the campaign’s targets, highlighting the importance of immunizing children against polio.

This initiative represents a collective effort to eradicate polio and safeguard the future of Karachi’s younger generation, reinforcing the city’s commitment to public health and safety.
