Govt writ nowhere seen in Balochistan, says BAP senator

Central leader of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Senator Manzoor Ahmed Khan Kakar, said today that roads across Balochistan were under the control of the BLA, while armed members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were present in the mountains, adding that the government’s writ was nowhere seen in the province.

Talking to the media at a protest sit-in camp established outside BA Mall near Quetta Cantonment against the Killi Babri, Hanna Urak incident, he said that armed groups had earlier forced the residents of Killi Mangala to leave their area and had now “soaked Hanna Urak in blood.”

He stated that armed members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had arrived in Killi Babri, located in the mountainous area of Quetta’s recreational spot, Hanna Urak, and ordered residents to vacate the area. However, the local people confronted them empty-handed, resulting in the martyrdom of several residents and injuries to others.

He said there was no confirmed information about the exact number of people martyred and injured in the Killi Babri incident because the remote mountainous area remained inaccessible.

Kakar said that local residents had previously staged a protest on Hanna Urak Road, demanding that an operation be launched against armed groups in Killi Babri and the surrounding mountainous areas. However, no such operation was carried out. He added that the armed groups had now attacked Killi Babri again, killing and injuring local residents.

He said the purpose of the protest outside BA Mall in Quetta was to demand that the authorities launch an operation in the mountainous areas of Hanna Urak to clear Killi Babri and other surrounding areas of armed groups.
